Registering inventory from the Report as Finished journal

Hi, 

In journal Reported as Finished there is possibility to go Inventory --> Registration and then split quantity and partially register inventory. This results in creating inventory transaction with receipt status 'Registered'.

Can someone explain what is the purpose of this type of registration and in what scenarios might this be useful?

    Hello Cyrille,

    You could use registration if you needed to record batch number/serial numbers for the items manufactured.

    Hello Dolores,

    Thanks for replying. Having done that, it is further possible to delete the RAF journal that leaves the registered inventory transactions. By creating a new RAF journal on the production order, it is also possible to 'return' the registered inventory (using the negative quantity) but not in all cases.. Could you think of a scenario or reasons for/when this is the case, therefore you get the inventory transactions with status Registered that can no longer be returned?

    Hi Cyrille,

    I can't think of any scenario where this would make sense. Please open a support case if you think the behaviour is not correct i.e. that registered inventory should be 'unregistered' if RAF is reversed.
