Job Queue Service Error in Navision 2018

Hi Community,

My company has been running Currencies Exchange Rates via Job Queue Entries for many years now. We used API to pull the rates from our local Central Bank API address. One thing in particular that I don't understand is how come at random weekends, the currency rate job queue will show status as "Error" for some companies and not all (We have around 20 over companies in NAV residing on the same server and DB, and only 4 companies' Currency Rates were down, sometimes it can be 12 companies randomly). I have checked with my IT admin, that there was no restarting of server being done.

May I ask is there anywhere in SQL server or Navision that I can trace the root cause of this error?

When Microsoft push server updates, will this affect Navision in anyway?

Looking forward to your replies!

Thank you!

    Hello,

I have faced the same issue with one of our client, we have found that due to  Microsoft push server updates, few updates required to restart depended and independent services as a part of version upgrade/ Patches installation in your case,

    Solution is as per below,

    Solution 1 :

Customization in NAV : Auto email or notification supposed to be triggered in case of Job queue status get changes

    Solution 2 :

If you using Power BI you can add set auto email trigger based on below two tables,

    1. )  "Job Queue Category" (table No.471) and

    2. )  "Job Queue Entry" (table No.472)

Moreover this service is based on "NAS" configuration,

    ----------------------------------------------

On the General tab, the Services Default Company specifies the default company that is used by NAS Services and also other types of client connections.

NAS services sessions execute in the time zone specified by the ServicesDefaultTimeZone parameter for Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server. See.

For more information about these settings, see General Tab Settings.

Hi, just adding to Rakesh's reply, I'm not sure if this works in NAV2018, for BC On-Premise version, the job queue can be debugged with the following method.

    Hello ZHU,

Provided information is supportive , hence joshtechsolutions has asked solution that how they able to keep eye on important Job queue, at least concern person supposed to know that Job Queue has been stopped or run successfully ,

Later on stage with NAS setting they able to set  on "automatically" if in case server get restarted due to any unforeseen event like power failure or vital patch/ update for windows,

Realtime its happed with me, It has often electricity issue at one of our client site, mostly at night thus few services get stopped and i have to start it again manually , secondly job queue also has to restart,  had resolved through NAS configuration.

    Refer below content for reference,

    Configuring NAS Services Settings

You can configure NAS services by using the settings in Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server Administration tool. In a multitenent Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server instance deployment, some NAS services settings, such as enabling NAS services and running NAS services with admin rights, are specified when you mount the tenant on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server instance.

I think debugging for multiple company Job Queue is might helpful but prevention or avoidance is much more helpful in this case.

Moreover zhu  your input is valuable.
