Ole Notes migration tool

Posted on by 1,455

Our client just upgraded from GP 2013 R2 to GP 2016 R2.  I just read that there is no tool for migrating OLE Notes in GP 2016. Is it possible to take a backup of the old go 2013 version and migrate then somehow get the docs?

  • RE: Ole Notes migration tool

    Hello Deborah,

At the Dynamics GP 2013 R2 version, the OLE notes functionality was changed to Document Attach, which is what the need for the OLE Note Migration Utility is used for.

If you're truly coming from GP 2013 R2, were the OLE Notes not converted at that version (GP 2013 R2) before upgrading to GP 2016 R2, or was the customer using the flag in the Dex.ini to continue to use the OLE notes at GP 2013 R2?

As mentioned in this blog - community.dynamics.com/.../microsoft-dynamics-gp-2016-ole-note-migration-utility

There isn't any OLE Note Migration Utility tool compatible with Dynamics GP 2016 or later. Because of this, migration would need to be done prior to upgrading to Dynamics GP 2016.

This blog has the links to the OLE Note Migration Utility tools for GP 2013 and GP 2015.
