Worksheet 250 created duplicate items at Stores

User changed a number of item lookup codes on HQ, ran worksheet 250 and the result was duplicate items/inventory at the stores.  The original items are still there, and there are new items with the same inventory amounts for the new lookup codes.

Any idea why this would have happened or what to do to resolve it?

Thank you for the responses.  I opened a support case with Microsoft.  They have not been able to determine why it happened.  Some more details about the circumstances:

The user created a new Dept at HQ (did nothing to create it at the stores!), and changed all the items in question to this new dept and changed their ILC by prefixing it with a D.  They then used Worksheet 250, selecting the new Dept, and transferred the changes to the stores.

Looking at the items at the Stores, the original item now has a HQID of 0, and the newly created item has the proper HQID.   This happened a few days ago, so there is no way I could do database restores.

Support did give me a SQL script that I can use at each Store to merge the original item into the new item, along with all the supporting/linked tables.  However its for one item, so I will need to modify it to go through all of the items (a few hundred items were affected).

    OWNE,

Most likely cause is that the ILC's were created at the store instead of HQ.

Run this query at the store and compare the HQID #s.  If one of them is 0, then its was created at the store.

SELECT * FROM Item WHERE ItemLookUpCode = '<enter an ILC number>'

As Ryan mentions, it can be fixed, it could be time consuming, it could be expensive!

Not too sure what caused it, but we have certainly been able to help people fix much worse issues.  If you are interested in a had, please drop me an email or give me a call and we can discuss.
