When I use PSTL, I always set up a copy of the live company as a test company, then fully test any modification or combination of records in the test environment, prior to making changes in the live company. This approach is essential to successful use of PSTL.
Have a look at the PDF manual that comes with PSTL and chapter 12 of the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 Cookbook covers some of the functions of PSTL.
