Hi folks,

I am using data import export framework to import Item master, here the issue that I am facing is there are some mandatory fields that I need to upload one of them is ItenId, now the data that has been provided by the customer does not contain this field. But as you can see this field is mandatory, so can someone suggest me what needs to be done in such cases where mandatory fields are missing in customers data...

We are using AX 2012 R3.

Please suggest what should be done in this case ? Following fields are there in customer data :

Product name Product number Search name Product type Product subtype Storage dimension group Tracking dimension group Item group Item model group

Thanks in Advance.

For ItemId, you could duplicate the Product number field. By default, AX will set the ItemId to the same as the Product number when you create a new Released product.

For other mandatory fields, you may not find it so easy; it depends what they are. However, from the list of fields you say you have I think you've got all the truly mandatory fields covered.

Oh, you are going to need to specify the language of the Product Name (EcoResProductTranslation_LanguageID), but presumably you could work that out (e.g. en-us).

It might not be the best practice to import the data before you get the correct data from client. But if you have to do so, you can create some dummy value of those required fields. Just keep in mind to update the dummy values to real values in the future.

Here you need to take decision...

As ItemId is mandatory and unique field in Item master, so you need to decide what will be the value...

    as umesh and terry suggested,

Discuss with customer and get the data...

product number can be the ItemId

these solution will be good  as you don't have to do any customization..

otherwise you need to have some customization in order to import data..

customization could be using number sequence to generate the ItemId

You need to modify import to staging table process to generate the ItemId...

Please verify which solution you like..

Let me know if you need any more technical support for this purpose.
