Recycled an Item with a Purchased Service

Hi... First of all, thank you all in advance...

I want to know if it is possible to have and item that can be recycled/restored by a supplier in his location/plant/offices whatever.. If possible, I need to know the correct process for this with next sequence of steps real life:

  • Material physically leave my plant so is not in my inventory anymore.
  • Vendor does his work and brings back my item(s) to my plant and I receive them.

In AX2009 I have a Purchase Order with a 1 Service Item on it for the cost of the service

How I suppose to manage that in AX2009 and AX2012 (we are migrating).  Does the mtl has to leave the plant in AX too?

If it physically left the plant, In order to receive it back, should I just adjust Qty. should Items must be added in purchase order within the Service item but this ones with Unit price 0?

I would really appreciate your help on this. If you can be quite specific in your steps for this procedure i would really appreciate tha t even more.

PD: Right nowI need to do it in AX2009 but after November I will need to manage this all in AX2012...

You create a sub-con warehouse and you transfer the items out to reflect they are out of your stock but you still own them and you can still see them. The next steps depend upon the process in essence, if the transformation is a production order with the BOM warehouse as the vendor to produce the transfer order the service item is a BOM line to generate the sub-con PO and then you "consume" from the vendor and then the PO covers the service and the original production order books the completed item back in upon receipt and completion of say an inspection operation at receipt.

However there are several ways this can be done depending upon the process and what the business wants. No change from AX2009 to AX2012 so if the process is working for you it can remain, but it might be a time to review and make it better.

Hi Steven.. This is not related with production. is just a material (nor raw material) that chemically gets wasted, but with other chemical process (that we don't do) the material can be restored. We already bought the material once and it belong to us, we just sent it to Supplier for treatment and will be back. This time we are only buying the treatment/restoring/recycling service.

I think Create the Subcontracted warehouse is and option to move them there and move them out to prodution again when they be back and ready.  Do you have some steps to create the Sub-Con warehouse?

It is just like any other warehouse, just name it and make people aware what it is.

I believe that it is very important to find a good recycling place whose employees you trust. For me, this place has become AGR. I highly recommend it to everyone. I try to sell all my things that are in good condition but no longer serve me in different ways. This not only saves the planet, but also saves me money!
