SKU handling and limitations

Hey Community,

I have a question for our business we are looking to move away from outdate ERP into a new ERP system /We are considering/ Business central and/or F&O.
I couldn't find a clear answer on this, our biggest ask is about how many SKU's can BC handle vs F&O and risk(s) I am not thinking about.

What do I mean by SKU handling our business and SKU count goes into the millions and we are likely to goes into the 10's of millions in 5 years.

    It's unlikely BC can handle these numbers efficiently. Probably you will not get a definitive answer

    There is no hard limit when it comes to this in Business Central.
    So in theory you can have unlimited SKU.
    But how do you define a SKU is it an item no. ?
    Because in Business Central there is a separate entity called SKU with are operational for different variants or locations for the same item.
    Are all your millions of SKU's really different unique items or can you look over your strategy when it comes to when you define that you need a new sku for an item by maybe using variants or something like that?
