You can. Locations can be physical buildings or virtual warehouses (like a parts cage). Each Location can have its own level of warehousing requirements. We encourage our clients to always use Locations and Bins, so the option is there in the future. Even if you only have one Location and Bin, you can make those values default where needed so it doesn't change the data administration.
The main reason for having the additional warehousing turned on is for separation of duties. One person handles receiving material off the truck, another person moves the received material into the warehouse. If the same person is doing both activities, there is no reason to separate data entry.
Be aware, you mentioned "Zones" which are only available in Directed Pick and Put-Away. Before deciding on your settings, it would be good to discuss your needs with your partner and have them walk through the different warehousing options available.
