Hi experts!

I would like to compare multiple projects in column of Dimension matrix. How can I do that?
Hopefully, I would like to also compare to the Budget.

Or is it possible to define multiple Global Dimension Codes to compere Actual/Badget of projects in the "G/L Balance/Budget"?

Hope your suggestions.

This seems to be something that can only be done by customization. However, if you only need data and not the total, you can try the following page.

Or you can try the latest Power BI app.
Projects Power BI app for Business Central (for version 25.2)

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    Hello,

To compare multiple projects in columns of the Analysis by Dimensions Matrix, you can use dimension codes like PROJECT_1001 and PROJECT_1004 as column filters by setting Show as Columns to the desired project dimension. This lets you view each project side by side. However, the G/L Balance/Budget page only supports comparison using two Global Dimensions (e.g., Department, Project), so for more than two, use Analysis Views with budgets included and run the matrix report. This provides actual vs. budget comparisons across multiple dimensions like projects or else you can go for Customization as suggested by Yun.

Hope this answer will help you as well!

    Regards,
    Mansi Soni

Unfortunately we have just 2 columns which you can use to compare, one you can select as Row and one in Column. If you wish to add additional then you need to go analysis view or build a Power BI or do a customization in Business central itself.

    Hi Nobuhara,

Comparing multiple projects side by side in a dimension matrix is best handled using Analysis Views, especially when you want to include budget figures.

    Here’s what you can do:

    • In the Analysis by Dimensions page, set Show as Lines to G/L Account and Show as Columns to your Project dimension. This allows each project (e.g., 1001, 1004) to appear as a separate column for comparison.
    • To include budget data, make sure:
      • Your Analysis View is configured to include budgets
      • The budget entries are posted with the same dimension values used in your actuals
      • You’ve selected Show: Actual Amounts, Show Amount Field: Amount, and enabled Include Budgets in the Analysis View setup
    • The G/L Balance/Budget page only supports two Global Dimensions, so if your project dimension isn’t one of them, it won’t appear there. Instead, use Shortcut Dimensions in your Analysis View — you can define up to eight in General Ledger Setup.
    • If you want more flexibility or visuals, consider using the Projects Power BI App for Business Central. It supports dynamic filtering and actual vs. budget comparisons across multiple dimensions.

You should contact your Microsoft partner to adjust this logic as it's not handled by standard functionality.
