How to increase string size in D365FO

Dear Friends,

In General Journal - > Line, here is description field currently string size is 60 character, i want to increase it 60 to 150 character.

Table Name - LedgerJournalTrans.

Field Name - Txt.

Please tell me how can i increase string size upto 150 character in d3656fo.

EDT?

You can try to create new EDT extension and extends original EDT.

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I am worried to change EDT because EDT is using number of places.

If i change EDT will effect all places.

Is there any side effect?

Hi Rahul

I would recommend not to increase the numbers of the characters even though you can. (there is a nice description on MS docs if you want to have a look.)

that is because if you give your users 150 characters they will ask for 200 in 3 month time and then probably for 250 in 6 months...

can your finance users agree on some defaults that they regularly use and that allows them an easy and consistent filtering of the records?

example: trvexp for travel expense, offsupp for office supplies, etc

i find using default and clearly specified abbreviations better than allowing users entering whatever they want. for that purpose we have the document attachments where they can add notes, comments, etc
