Is there any way to remove the formatting; specifically the conversion to all capitol?

Harry, thanks for your initial post - it was exactly what I had done to resolve the need here. However, I am interested in learning what other ways I could have accomplished this outside of Modifier.

I know time is important, so I appreciate the time you take.

There are a myriad of ways to perform this kind of change, Modifier is one of them.

You can acquire Modifier, which is a software purchase or acquire a site license, which allows your partner write and deploy changes like this for you.

    Eddie,

In order to change the Customer Purchase Order Number Field on the Sales Transaction Entry Window, you would need to use Modifier.  With Modifier, you can customize the window by opening Sales Transaction Entry and Navigating to Tools > Customize > Current Window.  Right Click on the Purchase Order Number field and choose properties.  Then click on the Data Type, choose the ellipses for data type and open the format - you will note the checkbox for upper case only is checked (see the image below).

You have two choices.  Un-check this box for this data type. This will change any field using this datatype, so it is not recommended.  You can also create another datatype, without checking this option, then assign the new datatype to this field property.

Once you've completed a modification and saved it you will need to assign security to the Alternate form in order to see your changes.  Tools > Setup > System > Alternate and Modified Forms and Reports (Windows are Forms)
