print drivers and PDF generation

HI Folks

Our client is using a Word Template to print a check remittance form.  When they print the remittance form to screen and then printer, or directly to printer the format looks great.  When they switch GP to print a PDF of the Word template the format moves.  This likely is going to be the print driver for the printer and the print driver for the pdf.  The client IT folks say that this is impossible.  We know you can control the driver on a printer.  Can you control the driver that GP uses to make the PDF's?  What is the print driver that it uses?  Is there anything we can send the customer that shows this difference as 'official documentation'?

thanks!

Are you first printing to Word and using Word's PDF engine? From where are you printing the reports?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Good Morning Leslie

The client is printing the remittance advice as a pdf attachment directly from GPremittance.PNG

They report that if they instead print to word and then print the report is sized differently, which makes us think it is the driver on the printer vs the driver that generates the pdf.

    Hmm,

I couldn't recreate the error. Do you have Acrobat Standard loaded? You shouldn't need it. I guess you could reload the print driver to make sure it's current. Does it behave this way for all users and workstations? Even sa and Fabrikam?

    hello again

There are no pdf drivers installed on the workstation.  as you say you should not need them with current gp.

Whatever built in tech is creating the pdf is obviously different from the driver on the printer.  We are just looking for something to give to the IT folks that says what that is, so that they can make the printer match it.

    thanks!

we will have to test all users and all companies, to date we only know of the one user on the one workstation.

    Good day,

What I have seen with printing reports from GP to pdf, one example the trial balance the last line would not print, if I am using Adobe I would print and then send to the printer. There I can change options via 'page scaling' in order that it prints everything.

Have your clients manually re-installed the pdf printer and experimented with the different converters?

    Regards,

    Rosemary

In the PDF setting check if print to fit page is selected
