AX Client Registry - GetConfigFromRegistry

Hi,

I have found this value in the registry for the AX Client but cannot find it documented anywhere.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dynamics\6.0\Configuration]
"GetConfigFromRegistry"=dword:00000001

I tested to see if when the value was set to zero AX would not launch unless a configuration file was applied but the test showed no change in behaviour.

Can anyone point me to documentation where this reg key is explained?

Hi Felix,

I'm not sure what it does either. There are some "secrets" in the configuration options. It might also be related to a legacy setting which is not used anymore.

Maybe try Procmon - process monitor ( thanks to Mark Russinovich and Bryce Cogswell )

Trace the AX 2012 Client and, you uncover a lot of secrets regarding AX 2012 about the registries and the file access.
