Smart List Favorites Remove & Modify

Hello,

I am trying to set security to restrict the ability to Remove and/or Modify a Smart List Builder Smart List at the System Level.  I have a user on my test system that has the Remove and Modify button grayed out but I can't find the security setting in the Tasks that makes this happen.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Nancy

What version are you on?  9?  10?  Security is very different for these.

I don't think there is any task setting to allow/disallow remove/modify for Smartlist favorites.

Maybe the user was working on *, which is read-only, hence the disabled buttons.

If you have field level security you should be able to disable the modify/remove buttons on that window.

    Hi Richard,

This would be for version 10.0. and it is for a custom Smart List created w/Smart List Builder.  The Remove and Modify buttons are grayed out for my test user, but not for the customer.

    Thank you,

    Nancy

As has been said, the Remove and Modify are always greyed out when the * favorite is selected.

To be sure we are talking about the same thing, a SmartList in V10 is represented by a folder icon in the browser while a Favorite is represented by a clip board icon....

You can remove a user's access to the SmartList Favorites window.  Find the task that provides access to the SmartList Favorites.  It should have a product=SmartList, a Type = Windows, and a series=Company and uncheck the SmartList Favorites option.

To simply prevent the use of the Remove or Modify button for Favorites, you can use Field Level Security.

BTW...All of this is covered in our new security book for Dynamics GP
