VLOOKUP for Reimport

Hi

We need to add a Field to CRM and then perform a VLOOKUP to populate this Field.  However, when you export data and check the box for Reimport, all Functions are grayed-out in Excel.  Is there any known workaround for this?  With more than 5,000 records, there's no way we can manually update this data without the aid of VLOOKUP.

    Hi, Have you tried to unprotect the sheet?

    Go to Review Tab --> Unprotect Sheet

    But, if you still cannot do that.

    if you need to modify the existing column, since this is a XML File, which is has validation of each columns, and treated as Text.

    So, it means that this cannot be used the result from a formula or function.

    You should copy all to new excel sheet, then do your VLookup There.

    Create a new column (clear column without any format or brought validation, for example, you use this column N.

    After you get the correct column, you do copy back to the .xml file (the file you use for re-import purpose) and then copy and Paste Special (choose value), don't just CTRL + C and CTRL + V.

    Instead, Right Click then choose the Paste Special, Value

    And this is the copied cells

    Save it again, still uses the same .xml.

    And you can re-import using value from your VLookup function.

    Thanks so much for your replies.  Simply unprotecting the Sheet worked, allowing me to create a VLOOKUP.  I had to change the column from text to General, but then it was grand.

    Thanks so much for your suggestion.  Pity MS has made it awkward.  The weird thing is that only certain things are protected, ie, formatting, etc, isn't prevented.

    Anyway, you're a star!  :)

    VLOOKUP() is a great function for searching through data in tables by looking for a value, and then returning the column where it's found. Reimport will not accept this function because of its awkward use of the colon (":") character. So what can you do instead?

    To search through columns in reimport, take advantage of duplicate values to find relevant rows which match your cell's information. For example- if I'm desk checking a piece of data using my Imported Data Sheet-"Balance Sheet" and I notice that "Cell Phone" inventory is listed as 8989, but not on my input sheet-"Inventory"-I need to go back and look at how that piece was entered
