Hi All,
We have an old client that has come back to us for some work. We have a copy of their old instance (2013 on-prem) that we used to do some previous Dev work (un-managed solutions). The client has now provided updated un-managed solutions (they make changes themselves) for us to refresh our instance but I am having some conflict in importing that solution.
I am happy to blow away what we have got and just use their solutions. Can I just delete the database and re-install the client creating a new database and importing their solutions in?
Thanks!
J

Thank you! I think i might follow your suggestion and see how I go.
An item with the same key has already been added error. This is on a specific field in a specific entity. However, I think this field is in a managed solution so it wouldn't let me delete it. I am of the opinion that a database restore with their solution is the best way to avoid issues. They could have done customization outside of the solution they are providing too.
Hi ,
Can you please share what is the conflict error you are getting while importing solution , the way you are choosing I believe the best options if you are able to fix the conflict issue.
Another option would be fresh import of the customer provided unmanaged solution in new vanilla environment , in that case you need another instance .
Third options would be database restore using Organization import which Ravi already suggested , in that case customer need to provide you their db backup , if they can share.
Hi,
Assuming the unmanaged solution contains all the required customization and there are no dependencies, you can create a new organization on your CRM 2013 environment and import their unmanaged solution. This is one way of doing this. However if you want to do the changes on their current environment, better option would be (if feasible/possible) to ask them to share their organization DB which you import in your environment. This way you get all the customizations as well as data. This will avoid any issues which may arise due to solution import dependencies or something using reference data/ config data.
Hope this helps.
