Is it possible to create a workflow for the BOM creation and its approval? With an option to send an email notification to originator?

Eg.; Sales dept create BOM, send for approval to another dept- they add additional values.

Hi Dynamics365FO,

In standard system, there is no workflow available in BOM creation. What you can do is create different versions of a BOM. Later on it can be approved and activated with a different user. Digital signature can also be used for activation.

Hi,

I have never tried it, but you can use the Case management functionality for 'Product changes' cases, which includes the Approval and Activation of BOMs and Formulas.

Hi,

A bit different way of thinking... You can also use electronic signatures for BOM approval. This is without a workflow, but the user performing the approval will have to give an additional digital signature which will then be logged and kept. Then they are really aware for making important changes in the application: docs.microsoft.com/.../choose-processes-that-require-electronic-signatures

additionally could utilize Power automate and PowerApps along with business events
