management reporter - printing exchange rates

(0) ShareShare

can I get management reporter to print the exchange rate used for currency translation columns.

For example I want my USD functional currency company to print in CDN dollars, and want to show the exchange rate used to make the conversion (i.e. the rate picked up from the exchange table in GP).

thanks!

Try adding an ATTR -> Exchange Rate column.

    hi Jake

    I added

    and now get

I know I did not put a column title, but that should not cause an issue.  have I missed something else?

We have a known issue if you have the following three elements:

    -Unposted data

    -Budget data

    -ATTR column

I believe this issue only occurs with the legacy integration so you could try removing one of the above three elements or look into switching over to the data mart integration.

    Hi Jake

we have unposted data - lots of it.  My MR's are pulling it as well.

We cannot switch to data mart as yet as we are anxiously awaiting MU6 release later this month  since current datamart does not do currency translation.

    thanks for the help!

If you add a column with Functional currency and then one with reporting currency, and then a calc column dividing them, you would be able to see the exchange rates being used. Would that work for you?

    hi April

That would certainly generate the exchange amount.  The request from the financial statement user however is to have the exchange rate directly in the column heading rather than repeating over and over on the rows as would be the case for your suggested solution.  Can I have hidden rows and columns such that it would only print once, and ideally in the same column as the dollar amounts?

    Ian,

Yes, I was able to do this on a row.

    1. I created a calc column that divided the amounts to get the rate.

    2. I added a CAL row that referenced the column and the first row. In my example it was CAL and the formula was F.100.

    3. In the row definition, I used the Column Restriction and put column A, or whatever column you want it to print in.

This should work and you can expand the formula how you wish. It will print beneath the headers through.

I think its a great suggestion and I hope this will resolve the issue in the short term. I would also encourage you to enter the suggestion to have the exchange rate in the headers on the Connect.Microsoft.com site. Please put the scenario, what you would like to print and any other information. It would also be helpful to put what your expectations are when the rate varies across accounts, such as historical accounts that may have different rates based on the transaction date.

    Thanks,

    April
