Dynamics 365 App for Outlook: how to stop every emails from being tracked

Hello Community,

I am testing Dynamics 365 App for Outlook to track emails from Outlook to D365. In the personal setting of D365, I have set the tracking option to "Email messages in response to Dynamics 365 email". When I use the dummy user "John Doe" to send an email to me, I receive the email in my Outlook and I can manually decide to track it. Next, I set the tracking option to "All email messages", and when John Doe sends me another new separate email, the email is tracked to D365 automatically. So far everything is what I would expect. However, when I change the tracking option to "No email messages", or back to "Email messages in response to Dynamics 365 email", now all of a sudden every new incoming email from John Doe is tracked automatically to D365, even if those new emails are not related to any replies of any previous emails. I am really puzzled why it would do that, - really strange even in the case when I have the option set to "No email messages", and still the system is tracking all incoming new emails.

Are there other settings I need to check? Just to be sure, I have even "unchecked" the "Use correlation to track email conversations" in the System settings altogether, and still the system is tracking all emails. Next, I enabled the use correlation setting, but only select the Use tracking token option, but remove the use smart matching option, and still the system is tracking all emails.

Does anyone know what I could be missing?

Thanks!

    Hi Partner,

Have you checked to set up folder level tracking?

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/track-outlook-email-by-moving-it-tracked-exchange-folder

Or you can go to Settings > Email Configuration > Mailboxes, open the mailbox information window, select None on Incoming Email.

    Hi Leah Ju,

Thanks for your reply! Another quick question: if I don't use the "Dynamics 365 App for Outlook", I can automatically track incoming emails to D365 as long as I have enabled my D365 user mailbox incoming/outgoing email on Server Side Sync, and choose one of the email tracking options in my person setting to, for example, "Email messages in response to Dynamics 365 email", is that correct?

Also, in the System Settings, if I don't select the option "Use correlation to track email conversations", what's the expected behaviour? Does this mean no emails will be tracked?

    Thanks again!
