Exporting Navison Forms and Reports to Desktop As Individual Objects Instead of Consolidated Dump

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Dear Microsoft,

I am looking for the information for exporting my all forms and reports objects from NAVISION 2009 application to desktop in extracted form, till now we can export them either as Save As option individually  or consolidated OBJECTS dump , but my query is if my project has 1000 forms and 2000 reports objects then instead saving each objects individually using as SAVE AS button is bit hectic and time consuming job, also consolidated objects dump or text form or export in excel is no use for me. My pain area to exports all objects individually and independently on my desktop. Please help me as this has become as show stopper for me and is hampering my work very much.

Regards

Asheesh

Issue is program is undergoing infinite loop through files are fetching and requirement is now i have to append form/report name with it id. For example i was earlier extracting as 1.fob but now requirement is to extract as 1_paymentlist.fob when paymentlist is the name of the form. Please suggest how i can achieve the same.

    Dear Suresh,

The trick didn't work. I already told i need to save the .FOB files in my code repository. I have been given task to checkin or to put all the Navison objects which is around 5000 approx (forms, reports) in my code repository i.e. SVN, VSS , CLEARCASE so that we can maintain the version of changed sources modified by developers due to some internal or production issues or some change request. Right now we don't have any such pluggin or tool to export or extract the same. The Microsoft provides facility on to save the consolidated dump of all objects or to save as single object which is very time consuming and frustating task and lastly to save in text/csv format which i don't required. Kindly help me the same if you understood my problem.

Since you are still on 2009 you can use Microsoft Navision C/Front to export the objects, below link has an example

    Dear Saurav,

Thanks for reply. Actually i have to save all objects files which in .fob format. There are around 1000 objects in my project. My task is to commit all objects in SVN code repository. But when i goto my Navison application and export the objects either we can save each object individually by export option or in consolidated form. I have to save or export 1000 objects individually other directory on my machine. So for that i need some help or automation script or any tool which can help me for the same as micsrosoft navison has no utility for this limitation.

    HI Asheesh,

In which format you want each object. If you are looking for separate files for each object in text format that is possible.

    1. You can export selected objects as text (if your case forms & reports).

    2. Using Nav Object splitter, you can break the text file exported in step 1 per object.

    3. You can download the tool from Mibuso. (www.mibuso.com/dlinfo.asp)

Let me know if that is what you wanted or you are looking for something else.
