Project Accounting: Revenue Recognition

Hello People!

Please I have a major issue. I want to use percentage to recognise revenue when running estimates, but how the system computes it is, if I say I want 70% 4 instance, it does 70% of the total accrued revenue minus any revenue earlier recognised to ascertain the amount. But we want it to use 70% of the balance so for instance, I invoice 10 million, if I have earlier recognised 5 million and I want to run another estimate using manual percentage, the calculation should be on 70% of 5 million (the balance) instead of 70% of 10 million.

Can I modify the set up to achieve this or I need to do a customization?

Thanks!

Hi DammyT, I do not fully understand your sample calculation. Can you possibly provide some additional details so that your issue becomes more clear? Ludwig

@Ludwig thanks! I am using a fixed price method for project accounting. I run estimates in order to recognise revenue. There is an option to use percentage , so I select manual & put the percentage I want the system to use in calculating. But the value the system computes is just as I specified in the scenario above.

I invoice 10 million, if I have earlier recognised 5 million and I want to run another estimate using manual percentage, the calculation should be on 70% of 5 million (the balance) instead of 70% of 10 million.

Hi DammyT, I think what you aim for cannot be achieved in Standard AX without making a modification. Yet, let me do some testing and see if somebody else in the forum already experienced a similar issue and found a solution for that. All the best, Ludwig

@Ludwig thanks! I guessed as much, but I just wanted to be sure that its not a set up issue.
