D365 BC On Premises Integration Challenges

Good day,

I am currently deploying D365 BC on premise and local Microsoft partner handling the installation stated that "On premises installation does not support REST API with use of POST/GET/PUT  and to integrate with Azure API Management (Power Automate) will required additional licenses or building a middleware component"

Since I couldn't see any documentation on Microsoft Learn/Doc for technical features/gaps on premises installation of D365 BC. The online D365 BC documentation shows OData -Rest API with clear samples.

I will appreciate anyone in the community that has done such implementation to assist in clarifying API integration options available for D365 BC on prem. Just looking for second opinion.

Cheers

The rest API's are supported also on-prem but it does require a lot of setup and some of it can be kind of complicated to setup.

Here is one staring point and i quote from that:

"Business Central on-premises and online expose an API that makes it possible to integrate with other services. To enable integration with these APIs, you must go through a few steps to enable the access first. For more information about these steps, see Enabling APIs for Dynamics 365 Business Central."

Please read more on this link:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../endpoints-apis-for-dynamics

Your partner should be able to set this up for you. But as a side note to that  - if you you relay heavily on API's and modern integrations you should really consider moving to BC online.

    Hi, just add a message.

Features not implemented in on-premises deployments of Dynamics 365 Business Central:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/features-not-implemented-on-premises

    Hope this will help.

    Thanks.

    Thank you very much.

Please do you know the reason why Microsoft D365 BC Sandbox is not made available to customer directly for Nigeria area.

I have dropped an email to support.. yet to get the feedback.

Appreciate if you can point me to write direction.
