Hi guys,

For a new number sequence that will appear in some module parameters, may I know what is the /story/ behind which in Development VM we need to manually run job to Load it in order to make it appear, while in UAT or production it will be automatic ?

I know how create new number sequence, but why it has that difference approach is what I want to know for better understanding.

Thanks.
I have the same question (0)

    Hi Voltes,

It will be automatic. No need of running a job.
During the creation of the number sequence, you will be extending one class which is specific to one module. So if you choose one class that points to one module and develop number sequence it will automatically come under the number sequence tab of the setup form.
Suppose if you take VendParameter form - During the form initialization respective module will be given and related number sequence will be populated automatically in the grid.

    Thanks,
    Girish S.

    Hi Mohit / Girish,

Yes, I'm sorry I'm a bit confuse. Anyway I understand the steps needed to create new number sequence. Just like the blog shared to me. Same as in the blog, point 4 stated we need to run the Runnable Class, right ? So we do need to run this (Runnable class is a job, if I'm understand correctly)

Like I'm doing now, I need to run this class (manually) in my Dev VM, but what I want to understand, if it is in Production how actually will make this activated / added since there will be no one run this manually, right ?

    thanks

    Yes, it's a runnable class.
To activate the number sequence its compulsory to run the runnable class. There is no other way.
You can use sysClassRunner to run the same job in production and uat environment. One think you need is you must know the name of the runnable class.

    Thanks,
    Girish S.

In addition, check runnable class for number sequence in this article for more information.

Meaning to say, because I create the Runnable class, later when I'm about to Go Live, I need to inform what is the runnable class to load my number sequence ?

Or, I should run that Runnable class (of mine) in production at Go Live time, using the URL (with changes of the URL name, ofc) like given by Girish ?

Btw, as this is new UI, may I know how to edit the existing thread :)
    Thanks

Thats a developer job to run the number sequence related class before Go live.
Also, I guess there is no edit option available in the new site.

    Thanks,
    Girish S.

Yes, In Sandbox and Production environment, you have to execute runnable class from UI using that URL. The sytax is same, only name of runnable class should be changed.

Currently, we can not edit existing threads but as per community updates, editing posts/replies will be enabled in this new community site in future updates in site.

You can execute the runnable class in Development environment as well, only difference is that in Dev environment we can set runnable class as Start up object in project and execute it, which can not be done in Tier2 & above environments.
