Update released products - Product name and description

Hello all,

For a customer of mine we are looking for a standard solution that can update released product names and descriptions.

In D365FO they are working as follows:

  • Create a new released product via the retail category
  • select the attributes that form the product/item number and product/item name (custom job)
  • a new released product has been created with the category hierarchy and attributes etc.

Now that the released product is created (and released) an other person will check the name and description of the released product and modify if needed.

However, since we cannot modify these parameters on the released product itself, we suggested that they changed the product (that was created in the background). Now we see that if we update the product these changes are not being pushed to the released product. Is there a standard way of doing this, and if so, how please?

I have also seen that there are suggestions using the released product translations to get the name and number right on a PO for example but this does not push it to the released product itself.

Any suggestions?

Kind regards,

Elise

    Hello Mohit,

Ok thank you i will do that.

It seems that i had to refresh the released products page after updating the products. Now it works.

    Thanks.

    Kind regards,

    Elise

Hi Elise, You can check with your Technical Team about which label files are they maintaining.  Label files are language specific like en-AU, en-US etc.

I tried changing on product level and system automatically changed those fields in released products.

    Hello Mohit,

    Thank you for your suggestion.

How do i know which languages i have to insert into the translations tab? Where can i see which languages are being used?

Secondly, yes it works if you put in multiple languages but why doesn't it work when you change it on product level? How can we push changes on product level to a released product level?

    Kind regards,

    Elise
