AX 2012 R3 Demo VM configuration through VMWare workstation player 12

Hi Team,

I have downloaded AX 2012 R3 CU9 Demo vm version from partner source to use it through VM ware workstation 12 player.

I got two Virtual hard disks AX2012R3A_OS and AX2012R3A_Data.

When I configured vm ware player with vhd file AX2012R3A_OS i am able to login to guest os ( windows server 2012 R2 ) but

i am unable to status AOS as SQL service is not started. when i tried to start SQL service it gives an error in eventvwr like

"initerrlog: Could not open error log file 'E:\Databases\MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log\ERRORLOG'. Operating system error = 3(The system cannot find the path specified.) "

I am suspecting drive E could be second VHD file which i received from partnersource. but not sure how to add this to VM vare player. when i am adding both vhd to vmware player still i cant see drive E in guest OS and receiving same error again.

    Hi Anil,

    I had the same error when I was trying to establish cu9 VM.

    You will get this error only with CU9 rest of the version are working fine.

    I couldn't do tht much R&D on tht issue as the project was in rush.

    If you are in rush thn batter to move in other versions otherwise you can do some R&D on tht.

    Hi Rahul,

    Thanks for your response. so do you mean that in AX 2012 R3 CU8 i will not get this error. If this is the case then i will go with AX 2012 R3 CU8. although it is painful to download again large chunk of files but there is not other options seems to me. I just want to give some more time if i can get any solution else i will start downloading CU8.

    Yes Anil,

    Surly you won't get this error in any other version. I tried the same with cu8 and it worked fine.

    Issue is resolved when i used IDE controller on VM ware to attach both vhd files. I can see drive E now on Guest OS and aos , sql services started.

    Can I get a workthough on how you fixed this.

    It's long back so I don't remember exact steps I used to resolve this.but I used ide controller option to attach virtual hard disk to VM ware. You can google it how we can do that. Hope that helps
