Starting Dynamics GP, Please help me for my basic questions

Hi all,

i am starting dynamics GP, please share your ideas

=> My task is integrate data from Sugar CRM application to GP using eConnect.

=> GP is installed in client system , is GP installation required in my system ? or can i

use client system ?.

i read documentation that need to add dll references to visual studio,

how can i add references without GP installed in my system.

If you want to start working on eConnect the below MSDN link will guide you:

Also you should consider GP Webservices as well for data integration. Below is good blog about eConnect vs GP WebServices

Considering you are new to GP I will recommend you to install a local copy to play with the sample company and check your customization / econnect code working fine before actually working on client's install. Once you are comfortable you can go ahead and work with your clients install either through VM or a web client (if you have GP 2013)

If you need the dll references to create a GP 'addin' you need to install atleast the VS Tools SDK for Dynamics if not install. This will automatically create a template with all the dll references predefined when you open a Dynamics GP addin project.

Is Dynamics GP installation is required in my system ?

what is the link to Download the eConnect Integration Service ?

i read in pdf that it is required in system to use eConnect

Yes GP Installation is required in your machine. eConnect integration service will come with GP install. Once you run Setup.exe in GP Install media, you can see eConnect on the main Install window which will install eConnect runtime components.

Is Dynamics GP is available free download ? or at least trail version ?

i try download , but i didn't find any link.

because my company didn't provide any software to me , i will ask this to my manager ?

they told me about only task .

You should have a Partner or Customer account to download Dynamics GP or any service packs. You can ask your manager for the same. Usually eConnect deals with the back-end process and not dependent on the frontend. However, as you are new to GP you require an install to learn and verify your eConnect integrations working correctly. You better contact your Manager and let him know.

I highly encourage you to look at an integration add-on for your project which manages your transactions. Trying to build a supportable integration from scratch is a huge task and takes thousands of hours to do it right. Anyway just a something to consider. You can watch 3 demos at www.plainsmobile.com
