Handling a security role that exists in Test and Prod but not Dev environment

Hello All!

Looking for some guidance from some more experienced Dynamics developers...

My scenario is this:

Doing enhancements to a Dynamics application that was developed on by others in the past. Looks like they did some big Dynamics "no-no's".  In my TEST and PROD env, ive got a security role that exists BUT does not exist in DEV. This security role is not a part of a solution in TEST and PROD, and is an unmanaged security role on the default solutions.

Im curious the best way to approach this so that I can properly get it created as part of a managed solution to make this more clean.

Would I simply manually recreate the same Role in DEV and push it up? If I did this, would I need to delete the unmanaged Role in TEST and PROD? In Prod, I think I would have to reassign and users to this new role being imported from DEV.

Is it possibly to manually create this Role in DEV, then possibly use some SQL to assign it the same Role IDs it has in TEST and PROD?

I'm a little worried this unmanaged Role and and its IDs might be associated to some other customizations in TEST and PROD....so manually creating a new one and removing the unmanaged one could maybe break some things.

Any guidance is appreciated!

    Hello,

I would say - export the solution from test or prod that contains that role, import it to the dev, move it to the usual flow when you move customizations between dev, test and prod.
