How do I setup Timecard entry for salaried employees so they can enter their time each day by the dept/job they are working on?

I have hourly all setup, but when I go to enter a salaried employee, there are to paycodes appearing on the time sheet.

I do not use the Timecard function within GP, however from what I can tell from the Timecard Assignment Setup window, Salary pay codes are not an option. It appears that only pay code 'type' hourly, vacation, sick and holiday are options. My guess is Salary pay code type is not an option, since Salary is an automatic pay type within GP.

I hope this helps answer your question.

    Thank you Chris,

I realize that salary is an automatic pay type, but our salaried employees need to record their time by different departments. I need them to be able to use the timesheet to enter their hours work in departments other than their home dept. I don't think GP is capable of meeting our needs.

Are you wanting their salary hours to be allocated to various departments worked within GP (within the payroll transactions), or are you just looking for a way to track it so you can allocate the information outside of GP?

There are definitely time entry solutions that allow you to track salary time outside of GP (including Greenshades), however if you are looking for the salary hours to be allocated within GP, the answer is probably a little more complicated.

I want their salary hours to be allocated to various departments within GP. Our salaried employees are still required to fill out a timesheet each week. We currently have an outside software tracking time, but we want to use GP, but it appears we will not be able to.

Thank you for the clarification. Hopefully someone will chime in with a setting or configuration I'm not familiar with. But for now, I agree with you that I believe this is not something that GP can handle without a 3rd party or customization of some sort.
