FRx - Column Print Control - NP not working as it should

Posted on by 14,849

Dear

In FRx, in the columns, you can specify in the Print Control "NP" and the definition in the FRx documentation is clear.

NP:    Indicates a non-printing row. This row is not printed on the report, but
can be used in all calculations.

But it is not doing that, i created a calculated column that adds 3 other columns and i want to hide these columns; when i put NP on these columns, the Calculated column displays nothing but when i remove the NP , the calculated columns displays the total of the 3 columns.

this is very weird especially that the NP job is exactly that

Your input is greatly appreciated

Regards

I agree with Peter your formula column should refer directly so if you have NP column that wont be considered on the formula column.

In the FRX6.7 user manual (page 202) it states -

"When you use a non-printing column in a calculation, you need to

directly refer to that column in the formula if you want to include

it. For example, in the following calculation, the non-printing

    column

    C is included:

    B+C+D

    However, the non-printing column

    C is not

    included in the

    following calculation: B TO D"

    Hope that helps

Is it possible, prior to implementing the NP column format approach, you tried other methods of suppressing the undesired columns?

I would recommend creating a new column layout for this report, using the same approach to see if you have encountered some kind of corruption in this particular.

    Hi BABU

thank for your reply, but actually it is the other way around

    i have column, B , C , D and i have the calculation on E (Sum of B to D)

and i want to Hide B , C , and D  , and I am using NP on the Column format but it is not doing what it is supposed to do ,

once i hide the column B C and D the Sum doesn't appear in E.

if i remove the NP on the 3 columns , the Sum appears on E with no issues.

if you have any input , it would be great

    Regards

    Hi,

Just to be clear you have B,C,D column and on E column you have calculation to sum B TO D and you dont wanted to print E column.  Is this correct.  Also do you have any account filter on the column.
