Existing Pricelist

Hello everyone:

I have an question on an existing Pricelist. Is it possible to copy an existing pricelist and give it a 10 percent discount for all the products within that pricelist.

We want to have at 10 percent, 20 percent, 30 percent and a standard pricelist.

Or do I have to export it and then import it back into CRM.

Also what is the different between a List Price, Standard Cost and Current Cost.

How does this work within an Opportunity or does it.

Any help would be great.

Note next week we will be upgraded to CRM online 2015.

Thanks

_damon

    Hi Damon,

As I know you can use existing Price List, and no need to copy if your objective is just to give a discount.

    You can utilize Discount List.

    See these article:

    crmbusiness.wordpress.com/.../crm-2011-what-are-discount-lists-and-how-do-they-work

    www.magnetismsolutions.co.nz/.../Using_Discount_Lists_in_Dynamics_CRM_2011.aspx

Then you do not need to copy existing price list nor export import it back.

Unless, you have another scenario, you have such as Promotion Price List that having different product, for example: Christmas Eve Glory event, then you have 1 price list, a special one that you only have 5 limited item, then you might need to create a new price list, but if all product in the price list are same then you just need to apply a discount list.'

And if you need some special condition, such as: I give discount for a special customer, then you need to create another separate discount by customer, or you want to give discount based on within period, 10% for this week, 20% for three days, and today now is 50%, then you need to create 3 price lists based on date, and another example you want to give discount with another very specific scenario, for example: Based on Opportunity field, then you might need it, because the discount applied in the price list is based on quantity I think.

Also what is the different between a List Price, Standard Cost and Current Cost.

--> Have you checked this article?

A long time ago blog post but at least you will get the concept

    And this

    It will help you.

    Hope this helps, Damon!

    This is awesome Aileen:

Know I need to decide what to do.

We have about 100 Service that we provide, not all the service will have a discount.

This is my plan so far.

Export the Pricelist and then Import it three times

Giving them names: 10 Percent, 20 Percent, 30 Percent and the Standard.

    Then make 3 Discount List 10, 20 and 30

Go back in each Pricelist and set the Discount for each product.

Not sure if this is the best plan, but if my boss want to change the discount I can do that by just changing the Discount List.

What are your thought or Ideals. If this is a good Ideal please click the Like Icon.

    Thanks

    Hi Damon,

    Well..

There are 3 options you can do:

    1. If the Discount you put 10, 20, 30 are based on the quantity, you might try use only 1 Price List with each Price List Item will have 1 discount list with 3 discount item based on your percentage and how many quantity (in range)

    2. If your discount is not based on the quantity, then you can create 4 price lists (your approach is correct)

     1. 10 Percent Price List

     2. 20 Percent Price List

     3. 30 Percent Price List

     4. Standard Price List

Which you need to define each Price List Item and Price. And each Price Lists Item should have at least 1 discount to define the discount.

But, do not forget your Price List Item for those 4 Price Lists should have SAME Price, because if not, you will have double discount, see the example after the third one.

    3. Similar to option 2, but you create 4 Price Lists with different Price List but without attach any discount.

So, this is kind of manual calculation for the Price List.

*This is the Price List example for number 2

(4 Price Lists with same Price with discount list)

Price List           Product           Price          Discount List

     -------------------------------------------------------------

      Standard           Printer ABC     10000           NO

      10%                  Printer ABC      10000           10%

      20%                  Printer ABC      10000           20%

      30%                  Printer ABC      10000           30%

*This is the Price List example for number 2

(4 Price Lists with different Price, manual calculated Price aft discount)

Price List           Product           Price          Discount List

     -------------------------------------------------------------

      Standard           Printer ABC     10000         NO

      10%                  Printer ABC       9000          NO

      20%                  Printer ABC       8000          NO

      30%                  Printer ABC       7000          NO

So, basically for the sample 2 and 3 it will only kind of "borrow the name" of

     1. 10 Percent Price List

     2. 20 Percent Price List

     3. 30 Percent Price List

     4. Standard Price List

Hence, your approach is I think is number 2 and it is a great idea, just remember if you choose number 2, make sure you don't give double discount.

If the discount you are referring is based on the quantity, I'd still prefer to recommend you use approach #1, save space, save records created, low-cost maintenance because as per you say if your boss want to change the discount just go to the Discount List.

    I hope this helps you.

If my answer helped you please you help to verify it.

    Thank you.

    Damon,

Just FYI, for the difference between List Price, Standard Cost, and Current Cost Pricing Method in price list item, and how it works and affects the Opportunity pricing, I have made some research and documentation, just in case you still need it, you can refer here:

    Thank you.
