Config. Package with Dimensions

Hi Experts,

We are uploading historical transactions into Dynamics NAV 2016 through the Config Package but I notice that the dimensions available in the fields of the Table ID 81 General Journal lines are only two which appears to be 2 short cut dimensions.

Client uses almost 6 dimensions for each line of posting so I am wondering if we could add additional fields to Table ID 81 and include more dimensions instead of the only two.

Is there a way out of this.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards

    Hi Richard,

We have 2 tools that help users import/export data with dimensions simply: one is built with Config. Package, one is Excel purely. However, you can do it via Config. Worksheet:

    - Search for Configuration Worksheet.

    - Create new line, choose Table ID.

    - Assign Package.

    - Activate Dimensions.

    - Export the Template.

    - Fill in data with Dimensions.

    - Import back the file.

    Hi Suresh,

Thanks of for the information. I check the video and it appears the dimensions fields are already in the table 81. I want to know how the dimension field can be added to the Table , I think that is my difficulty.

    On standby for your advise.

    Regards

    Hi Richard,

To activate the dimensions, set true "Dimensions as Columns" for the Config. Line.

Provided link from Suresh is good, Mohana has a detail Youtube guide video for this.

Does it work for you? Otherwise, we can support you Licensed Tool to 31 December 2016 (whole year 2016 right :-) for your uploading historical transactions. Please contact our support email!

Using steps are simple and straight forward:

    1. Add Dimensions in Config. Package Fields:
