Dynamics 365, Event registration Module - Waitlist feature not working

In dynamics 365, I am testing the waitlist feature in the Event Registration module. I have the max capacity set and the waitlist enabled for my event but when the event reaches capacity and someone tries to join the waitlist they receive an error message. that states "there was an error, please try again".  The waitlist feature is not working.  This is for a real time marketing event.
