Upgrade GP 10.0 to GP 2013

I am attempting to upgrade GP 10.0 to GP 2013.  I have installed GP 2013 and restored my GP 10.0 databases according to the

Article ID 878449 - "How to transfer an existing GP install to new server.."  When I try to run utilities I receive multiple errors in my "duinstall" log file listing most of my products not supporting the upgrade from version 10.0.1579.  I notice in the 2013 upgrade info that it only supports upgrades from GP 10.00.1779.  I assume that is the reason why it won't continue with the upgrade?  My question is if anyone knows if I HAVE to run the 1779 service pack on my GP 10.0 databases or if I can just bypass that routine and just run the SQL scripts to change the db_verBuild and db_verOldBuild values to 1579?  As far as I recall the 1779 version is just related to payroll updates and we don't use payroll in GP.  If I can't run the script I would love to know other steps I can perform to help me proceed.  I don't want to have to run the service pack on my 10.0 install due to the fact I have 30 company databases and it will take forever to upgrade them and transfer the db's back to my test 2013 upgrade server.

I looked around on the web and didn't find any workaround for you, just multiple sites saying you need to be at 1779 or above.

Seems to be the best thing I've found so far.

You need to install the last hotfix for GP 10 before you can upgrade to GP 2013.

Ian is 100% correct. You need to apply the GP 10 hotfix and then upgrade your databases. You will more than likely run into issue if you try to change the build information in SQL.

That was what I was afraid of but thanks for everyones reply.  I have started that process now.
