Mass Inventory Adjustment

Posted on by 6,010

We have a warehouse location we have closed.  We have had quite a few inventory discrepancies (244 items to be exact).  What is the best way to make a negative inventory transaction on the 244 items so that they do not have to be hand keyed?

We have integration manager and Scribe as well as the general GP macro.

***WE ARE USING MULTIBIN

    Ron,

I  assume you are using version 10?

You can download the latest cumulative service pack here.

Ok guys thanks for the suggestions.  I will have to get IM installed again.  I have been using Scribe for most of our importing of data, but nothing "transaction" related.  I have IM on my install disc, but where would I get the latest version?

I second the recommendation on using IM in this case. It's a fairly standard integration and is fully supported by the default adapters.

A macro becomes an option when there are data for 3rd party modules involved. What we do to remove the variability of response from the UI is some coding either through VBA/Continuum or Dex/cross-dictionary triggers. It's not as bad as you think.

    Hi Ron,

I would recommend using IM for this case since BIN has been addressed in IM also.  In addition, you can get your source data from by joining Item Quantity Master and Inventory Transaction Bin Quantities History.

You may have to do more work within the recorded macro to make it behave dynamically since your may have numerous permutations of warehouse/bins.

Hope this lead you to the right direction.

    Cheers,

    Dencio

My first thought was to use a macro, to keep from having to build an IM or Scribe DTS.  However, when using the Macro, when the bin location "pops" up I am afraid that will kill my macro (am I crazy for thinking this???).  Do you think I can record a Macro that should successfully enter all of the line items onto an inventory transaction for me to post without any issues?

    Re: Mass Inventory Adjustment

Are these all the same inventory item? ie is it a quantity of 244....or is it 244 seperate inventory items that need their quantities adjusted?

You could look at the Stock Count functionality. Setting the count quantity to zero in every case (if you want to reduce all your stock to zero)...would post negative transactions for all items included, thus reducing the quantity on hand to zero.

You could post an Inventory Decrease transaction. You could create one using IM or a macro whichever you find easiest.

    Hope this helps.
