Lean manufacturing

I am new to AX 2012R3.  I have targeted training on specific fields I use everyday to load new part numbers.  I have familiarity with creating operations, resource groups and resources.  I believe we have areas where lean manufacturing capabilities in AX can be leveraged but need to understand the nuts and bolts and how it effects those who are in the planning department.  Where can I get a picture of the day in the life of a company that uses lean manufacturing techniques inside of AX.

    Hi, we've set up the "Discrete Manufacturing" in our Ax implementation, and it's been a very painful experience. Lots of overhead, lots of complex operations, ...

    So I'm now trying to set up the "Lean manufacturing" functionality as well, and it takes some tweaking but so far it seems to work much better!! And it's a lot more simple.

    The sad thing is that there seem to be few experts who know a lot about this.

    There's a process board for Kanban production, a transfer board for Kanban moving, and an easy drag'n'drop schedule board for scheduling. You can have the Kanbans working with different colours. Production, moving and all that stuff can be done with scanning of Kanban cards.

    I'm not an expert on this.
