Metadata Source Control in Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) for Dynamics 365 For Operations

Hello, everyone!

I'm working with D365FO using source control in VSTS.
I've come to a point, where I need to understand is it better to store all Models metadata in VSTS source control code storage, or use it only for non-microsoft models, created by our developers.

And if the answer is to store everything in source control, than I have a question is there any limitations in storage size?

    Hi Eugene Voloshchenko,

    There is no point of storing standard MS code in VSTS. Please refer to docs docs.microsoft.com/.../configure-vso-solution to see how is recommended to setup mapping. Usually all devs work on same application release, so have same code base. You use VSTS to distribute your customization\ ISV \hot-fixes installed.

    It is the same rule as with TFS. You only store what you want to track, to be able to fall back to a previous version in case of a problem.

    That - like Ievgen mentioned - includes any ISV solutions, vendor and customer changes. Pretty much any layer changes below FPP (feature pack patch layer) should be tracked.
