Thanks for the quick answer. The manufacturer recommends using Windows 7.
COMPATIBILITY MODE SOFTWARE:
1. Place the applications installation file on the Desktop.
2. Right Click the applications installation file and select Properties/Compatibility Tab. Select the appropriate options from the list in the following image.
3. Click Apply/OK.
4. Right Click the file and select the Run As Administrator option to install.
I also recommend that you check with the maker of that software program and inquire about future support for Windows 8/8.1.
It's irrelevant now, I am using add-ons that are not 8/8.1 compatible.
