Delete Permission at opportunity line

Hi,

I have a restriction in our CRM that any sales person can't delete anything. They can create, edit, change accounts, contacts, opportunities, quotes, orders... but no delete, but I have a problem with detail of this entities because I want they can add/change/delete (quote line, opportunities line, sales line...).

For example, I quit delete permission at opportunities entity, so they can't delete opportunity details (line of opportunity). There is any other permission only on details of entities?

Thanks

No there is no such special permission. I user has no rights to delete opportunity - he is not allowed to delete lines as well. As a possible solution you can allow user to delete opportunities and develop a plugin that will handle deletion of opportunity entity and throw an error. In this way you will allow user to delete opportunity lines and block deletion of opportunities.

Andrii is right that these permissions are "inherited" from the Opportunity.

Of course you could try to limit the exposure by only allowing users to delete Opportunities they own (if it would make sense that they can only delete line items from their own Opps as well).

Rather than a plugin, you could use a real-time workflow to prevent the deletion of Opportunities (which also lets you give the users a suitable error message in response). You could also use Ribbon Workbench to remove the delete buttons to remove temptation.

Alternative path - don't allow users to delete, get them to set quantity to zero instead. Use a plugin to trigger on Opp (/quote / order) Product lines when quantity is changed, and if zero, delete the line record. You will have to consider how to handle this in terms of what the user sees on screen in the Opportunity Products sub-grid versus what they see after a save and refresh, but it should be manageable.
