Hi Tharun,
You can hide that button from the ribbon. The advanced find ribbon is defined in the Application Ribbon resource in CRM. If you want to hide or disable the New button,:
- Create an Unmanaged solution
- Add the Application Ribbon
- Export the solution and MAKE A BACKUP
- Edit the customization and add a display rule for the Add New button so it never displays
- Reimport the solution
Hope this helps! I'd appreciate if you'd mark this as a Verified answer.
Thanks,
Aiden
Hi,
I dont understand that "display rule for the Add New button so it never displays"
thanks,
Tharun
I've added buttons to the advanced find but I haven't hidden existing buttons so it'll take a little experimentation on your part (here's a really neat example of adding a button that works with the advanced find results: crm-dev.blogspot.com.au/.../crm-2011-add-mapping-to-advanced-find.html)
When you have a button in CRM and it doesn't always show, you need to add a DisplayRule to the XML which defines when it should show or not. There are also EnableRules which dictate if a button is enabled or disabled. Both DisplayRules and Enable rules are contained in a RuleDefinitions element (details msdn.microsoft.com/.../gg334676.aspx ).
I believe you'd want to create a display rule that references the New button on the advanced find ribbon, and the DisplayRule would always evaluate to false.
The Add new button isn't on the Advanced Find Ribbon - it's taken from the SubGrid entity ribbon.
You will need to:
1. Create a solution and add the 'Application Ribbon' (from the client extensions)
2. Load the solution into the Ribbon Workbench (ribbonworkbench.uservoice.com/.../71374-1-getting-started-with-the-ribbon-workbench)
3. Select the 'Ribbon' tab
4. Select 'SubGrid' from the dropdown in the top right of the window.
5. Right click on the 'New {0}' button (first on the left). There are other Add New buttons but they are used on subgrids on records
6. Select 'Hide'
7. Publish
If you need to reverse this, you can do the same but locate the 'New {0}' in the Hide Actions node of the solution elements and right-click 'UnHide'
Hope this helps
@Scott - I didn't know you could edit the Advanced Find ribbon from the Ribbon Workbench, that's awesome. Thanks!
Thanks Scott :)
