Howdy All,
Trying to get a clean install of Dynamics 365 Business Central on prem (eventually would love to run full hybrid), but having initial hell with the SQL setup.
VM Running clean installation
Database on instanced dev sql server 2016
Installer keeps insisting on trying to install local SQL instance.
Have tried using server name, server name\instance, server fqdn...
Anyone else run into this?

I am also getting SQL server 2016 error while trying to install BC-Onprem in Windows server 2016 though i have installed SQL server 2016 but still it tries to install and fails.
i have also tried without SQL server component and could install BC but unable to see BC instance while trying to connect.
Could you please suggest?

Only thing I've been able to find so far is the SQLDemoDatabase.
Confirming this today... *really* should be part of the installer package already... If SQL installed @ target, build tables, else install SQL... not that difficult.
In the DVD package you should have also the D365BC standard database to restore in an existing SQL Server instance (I don't remember now the folder where it's located, just browse it).
True, you can.. but it doesn't create any tables or any of the "good stuff" you need for a base install.
You can customize the install in order to not install SQL Server.

Are you receiving any error message?
I suggest you to open the Event Viewer and see which error you have there.
It's a normal installation you should not have problems.
Stay up to date on forum activity by subscribing. You can also customize your in-app and email Notification settings across all subscriptions.
