Fixed asset with a Wrong value

Dear Team,

We have posted some of the fixed assets with wrong value  and run the depreciation also. But while checking we find out the correct value of the fixed asset. The asset was added in the year 2014, and the depreciation also done for the year 2014 & 2015. How can we add the correct value for the existing fixed asset, so that the depreciation should run with new value for the year 2016 and how can we adjust it for the other two years. Kindly need solution. Our Environment is running with AX 2012 R3.

Kind Regards,

Ramji M H

    Hi Ramji,

In addition: Note that correcting amounts possibly also requires review of the asset value model. This depends on the depreciation type you are using. Have a look at e.g. the next thread for some explanation how depreciation settings can have impact on future depreciations: community.dynamics.com/.../552895

    Hi Ramji M H,

The simplest approach would be calculating the difference between your current net book value and the one that you expect. This difference can then be posted for example as a write up adjustment in order to correct the depreciation amounts for the future.

If you want to have to 'old' depreciation amounts also corrected, you need to reverse the previously created depreciation postings, adjust the net book value of the fixed asset (for example through a write up adjustment) and then run the depreciation again.

Please note that the second approach probably requires the help of a developer especially if a lot of fixed assets are affected. Without the help of a developer it might take a long time to get things manually corrected.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
