Microsoft dynamics Portal (Permissions error)

Hello Everybody,

I am new to Portals. Trying to figure out it works. I am using Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 (on-premise)

I downloaded the Microsoft dynamics portal from link(https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=55789).

1. Published, and have running the portal web site.

2. Created Webform, under it web form steps.

3. Last step redirects to Web Page (Complete)

4. I get error "You do not have permission to perform Deactivate action on adx_webformsession entity. Reference IDs:none"

adx_5F00_error.JPG

5. I believe, it has to do with permission on "Session" in my WebForm. As it tried to deactivate the Session record.

6. The Web Page (Complete) does not have issue. As i execute it by Partial URL, it displays the web page.

I most probably am missing some configuration or permission some place.

Any help shall be appreciated.

Thanks,

Menon

RE: Microsoft dynamics Portal (Permissions error)

    Hello Everybody,

Finally i found the answer. The problem was permissions for the specific entity.

    Solution:

    1. Go to CRM

    2. Settings - > Extended Permissions

    3. Create a new record

    4. Select the entity Portal Web Form Sessions

    5. Security Role : System Administrator

    6. Permission Type : Deactivate

    7. Status : Yes

    Save & Close

    The problem above was resolved.

I hope this helps someone someday :)

    Regards,

    Menon

    Hi Nick,

Thank you very much for your reply.

By connection string if you mean by settings.xml in APP_DATA.

The user there is an admin user.

I am still investigating the issue. I shall update the question here, once i have the solution.

    Thanks,

    Menon

    Hi Menon,

When the web form is completed, the Portal code deactivates the Web Form Session record - it looks like the user that being used by the Portal may not have the permission to do that (which seems odd - I'm not sure how you'd get that far if the user didn't have write permissions on Web Form Sessions).

Double check the security roles for the user that is being used in the connection string in the Portal.

    Nick
