Hi guys,

In General Journal, we can enter journal lines through General Journal Template :

However, when I download the file and open, it is showing no data, when I'm not as admin.

How to check what security this template needed ? Since I only know to check security of a form, trough menu Options -> Security Diagnostic.
Is there a standard privileges ? but anyway I would like to ask how to check it.
What other thing required to be able to use this feature ? this is for input journal using template in local Excel installation then make it reflect in D365FO.

Thanks,
I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

Are you using a custom role for this user? In that case, check if the privilege Maintain Journal lines entity is included in this role, directly or via a duty. This privilege grants access to the data entities for editing the journal lines in Excel. It is part of the standard duty Maintain journals and transactions.

    Hi Andre,

    Thanks, it works.
But may I know how to trace this ?
I know if it is for Form in D365 FO, trough menu Options -> Security Diagnostic. I don't know how to check if it is template like this.
    Thanks.

    Hi,

In this case, I used cross-references in the development environment to find the correct privilege for the data entity. The security diagnostics only provides information related to the menu item that was used to open a specific form. It does not include information about other menu items, form controls and entities related to that form.

    Hi Andre,

I'm sorry to trouble you again, may I know what is cross-reference, and how to exactly use it ?
    Thanks again.

    Hi,

With cross-references, all elements linked to each other are stored in a database to easily find where an object is used. E.g. A data entity is included on one or more privileges for granting permissions. If you don't know the privileges to find, you can find it starting from the data entity.
You can start from the data entity in the Application Explorer. Right click it and follow the flow as shown in the screenshot below. It can open the designer with the privilege so you can lookup both the technical name and the label.
