Segment for account?

Hi

I would like to create two very simple segments:

1 - One segment to display all contact from some specific accounts (and this is easy to do) > Result: Diplay the list of contacts - Done

2 - One segment to display all account from a specific country (or based on any other criteria) > Fail: Am I understanding that the outcome of a segment can only be contacts??

If yes, it means that we cannot get the list of all accounts coresponding at some criteria??

Anybody has an answer?

Thank you.

    RE: Segment for account?

    Hi Pascal,

Whatever entity we set in segment, the final target should still be contacts,

and when we set Target to account in customer journey, marketing emails will be sent to retrieved contacts(members in segment) under their account.

That's by design and can't be changed.

But a contacts parent Account can be used to drive personalised content, Account based reporting/insights etc.

As this previous marked thread mentioned:

    https://community.dynamics.com/365/marketing/f/dynamics-365-for-marketing-forum/301941/is-account-based-marketing-possible-and-how-to-create-segments-for-that-purpose/877149

Please read this doc for how to work with account-base market.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customer-engagement/marketing/account-based-marketing

If you want to get list of accounts coresponding at some criteria, you could hint Advanced Find icon(funnel icon) at upper right of navigation bar.

    Regards,

    RE: Segment for account?

    Hello PascalT,

you can build segment that filter on account attributes as easily like filtering for contact attributes. But the result of a segment will always be contacts.

In the segmentation UI you just have to add the respective filter attributes to the account and then pick the Primary contact - if you will, in order to select the contacts to address.

See here a segment that selects all accounts in US and Canada with category "Preferred customer" and then pick the "Primary Contact". You then could filter more on primary contacts too.

This is in the classic Segmentation UI:

And in the refreshed segmentation UI - in early access right now:

If you desire to find counts in your organization for other purposes than marketing communication, you can always use the advanced find capabilities.
