The new template can be made available by creating a new document template and importing the Excel document.

Please note that the template name defaults to the file name that has been uploaded. If you do not delete the suffix and make use of the original template name (‘LedgerJournalLineEntryTemplate’), the upload will succeed but you won’t be able to make use of the document template.

    Regards.

    hi MSTGuy

    yes i have uploaded

so you are saying i must name it exactly the same as the original - LedgerJournalLineEntryTemplate

    wont that overwrite the original?

    Hi Raff,

It seems that you are just creating the new template but there is no controller to use it. Please kindly consider the documentation is available on the below link and which might help solving your issue:
    docs.microsoft.com/.../add-templates-open-lines-excel-menu

Please let me know if this helps or if you need any other information, and we will be more than glad to assist further.

    With kind thoughts,
    Laura

thank you Laura, this will be useful if and when we need more than 1 template, for now we are ok to operate with 1 and are just over writing the original document name

I thought the purpose of the ability to Upload the Templates through the UI was to avoid Development?  I have the same issue where I download an existing template, make a minor change and then add it to the Document Templates form.  I have either the OPTION to OVERRIDE the existing or add the new one and it not be visible.  Mine appears to be only happening to my AP Invoice Journals and Payment Journals.  I see my template show up on the AR Free Text Invoice Journals.

    WHY ?

    Hi,

I just replied to someone on similar question, pasting the link here for details: https://community.dynamics.com/365/financeandoperations/f/dynamics-365-for-finance-and-operations-forum/397573/d365-user-created-journal-document-templates-not-showing-in-office-experience

If you can work with 1 template then you can overwrite the template as mentioned by other experts here.

If you need more templates, look at the explanation on the above link. LedgerJournalTable form is different than most of the forms.
