Accounts Receivable

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We have a request to track the balance for subrogation amounts due. However, we do not want the AR to go to the financial statements. So they want to set up a customer in AR with a balance then post payments and adjustments with out sending the entries to the G/L side. We are using AR so we can't just turn off AR from posting to the G/L, is there away to do this?

Yes, setup the customer account you are thinking about. On the Accounts window, change the "Cash Account from" option from the default value "Checkbook" to the value "Customer" and set all account numbers to a suspense account, i.e., 999-999-999. Since you will be using the same account for all distributions, GP will not post in and outs to the same account to GL.
