Report Writer changes do not save

In Report Writer for the "RM Detail Aged Trial Balance - options" report, when i make changes in the layout section and click save, report writer lets me save. But immediately when i go back into layout to view my changes, the changes are missing. Any ideas here? I don't think its the security issue into the alternate/modified forms section. It seems to be with the dictionary?  Any help would be great. Thx!

Make sure you have full permissions to where ever you keep your REPORTS.DIC file.

Did you figure out what was causing this? I'm running into the same issue. In the file system, I see the file has been modified as the time/date stamp is updated.

Make sure you check the exact location of the REPORTS.DIC file by going to Tools->Setup->System->Edit Launch File and Highlight MS Dynamics GP.

It is possible that where you think the file is being saved is not actually where it is being saved.

    Hi Mark,

In reading your question, it looks like you never left report writer. So you aren't saying the changes don't print on the report, what I think you're saying is that while you are still in Report Writer, the changes aren't saved to the layout. Is that right? Does it happen with ALL of the reports you try to modify?

Presuming it is, here's what I'd start with:

    1. Check your permissions on the Reports.dic file (or whichever Reports dictionary is applicable). I think someone else already suggested this.
    2. Rebuild the Reports dictionary. To do this, export all of your customizations to package files and then rename your existing Reports.dic.
    3. Close any other applications you have open.
    4. Clear out your temp folder.
    5. Open Report Writer - this will create a brand new empty dictionary.
    6. Go ahead and try to modify the report and see what happens.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Mark,

After following all steps from Leslie try below step.

    7) Can you try to open/run Dynamics GP as Administrator. Right click on GP and select open/run as admin and see you able to save changes in Report writer or not.

    Thanks
