Dynamics GP 10 Service Pack not updating

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We have a situation where a client is running Dynamics GP 10.1701 and needs the last service pack to update to a higher release. However, after opening, and running the SP, which looks to run fine, it continues to come up saying it's running the latest version and the SP update never kicks off. The last SP we show is KB27569063? Server has been rebooted, admin rights have been used, still won't kick off the server version update. Any thoughts?

Can you try to completely un-install GP 10 and then do a re-install as the current admin user? I would make sure you delete the GP program folder before re-installing. This must be a permissions issue. Whatever account was used initially must still own the GP program folder. After the re-install then apply the latest GP 10 service pack.

We've tried that and looked at everything on the security side but would agree it points to that based on the issues. This server has been used for number of years with number of updates that took before using the same login admin. The service pack is the last one available for GP 10 and just doesn't make a lot of sense.

This is a security issue. Check permissions on the GP folder. Make sure they are not set to read-only. Also, make sure the admin account you are using is a local admin and has full permissions to the GP subfolder. A simple trick is try to create a txt file in that folder. If you cannot then correct the permissions issue. Chunk files are not being included so GP runs as if no upgrade has been installed.
