How to exclude the beginning balances of balance sheets accounts from prior year for actual vs. budget reports using 2015 Report Viewer

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I am using balance sheet accounts in my 2015 Report Viewer Actual-Budget Comparison, but the beginning balances are being picked up in the both the Current and Budget columns.  Do you have a solution for this?    I only want the current year activity, not the year end balances on the balance sheet account.  For example, the report is picking up the ending balances of fixed assets.  I would like to show only the current year purchases and budget.  Thanks for your time and help.

I'm ot aware of reporting option in GP that'd show this. Maybe taking one of the budget V actual reports, pick your year and then also entering a date filter? The date filter if placed on first of month MAY exclude the BB.

Modifying report writer reports is typically a doozy. I'm sure it's possible but haven't done it.

Any reason that you're not using Management Reporter as your budget v actual reporting tool? This would be super easy there and the end-product would likely look better as well.
